Goldrush Ballooning is a professional balloon operator based in north east Victoria. With the High Country’s beautiful flying areas and better weather it was an easy decision to base ourselves here. Our regular flight operations are available 7 days a week. A minimum of 4 guests is required to confirm a flight on your chosen date, or 2 guests for an exclusive flight.

All our pilots hold CASA Commercial Balloon Pilot Licences and have a 100% safety record. Goldrush Ballooning is certified by CASA operating under Air Operators Certificate C569224.

Goldrush’s Director of Operations is Paul Gibbs. Paul started ballooning in 1985. By 2004 he had won a World Bronze Medal and was a 5 times Australian Champion. Paul holds an Australian CPL(Balloons)and CASA Flight Instructor rating. He also holds a Chilean Piloto Comercial (Globo Libre), having founded the first permanent commercial ballooning operation in South America’s Atacama Desert, Phaway SpA. In 2019 Paul was awarded the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale’s Tissandier Diploma for services to sport aviation.

Our High Country pilots are led by Curtis Greenwood. Curtis is a former commercial helicopter pilot. Having left heavy metal aviation Curtis enjoys spending his time flying balloons or hang gliders in the Victorian High Country. Curtis has been involved in the professional ballooning industry 18 years. 

We also have a wonderful support crew who you may meet or speak to along the way. Maaike Bierma is Goldrush’s General Manager. When not managing the office Maaike is a private balloon pilot. Richard Michell is Goldrush's Crew Chief with experience retrieving balloons in Europe, Latin America and Australia. Goldrush’s experienced team are committed to sharing their passion for lighter than air flight with you.
